Internships

General Information:

The HEALTHBREAK, Inc. Internship Program will help strengthen the student’s professional philosophy and understanding of the management of wellness and health promotion programs and services. Students will be provided with the opportunity to develop skills and techniques applicable to their areas of study. The internship is designed to enhance the student’s professional preparation.

Qualifications:

• Working on degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, or related health field.
• Interest in gaining experience working in a corporate or commercial fitness facility.
• Personal role model for health promotion with professional, corporate image.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Experience in presenting health and wellness programs in individual and group settings, and leading exercise classes.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office and other fitness center related software.
• Current CPR & First Aid certification.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the day-to-day operations of a corporate fitness facility.
• Administer fitness assessments, develop exercise prescriptions, and provide fitness equipment orientations and ongoing assistance for all fitness center members.
• Develop and implement fitness center incentive programs, demonstrations, and special events.
• Instruct group exercise classes and coordinate other contractors for group fitness class program. 
• Administer personal training services to interested member employees.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of other wellness programs that includes behavior change programs, incentive programs, health seminars, special events, intranet based programming, etc.
• Facilitate health, fitness and nutrition-related programs, either in a group or individualized setting.
• Become efficient at using the software system including data input tracking and reporting.
• Assist in the development of promotional literature for all programs.
